Diamanti Extends OpenShift Support for RHCOS Worker Nodes

The Diamanti & RedHat partnership continues to deliver world class HCI products for enterprises. Customers around the world are taking advantage of RedHat’s leading Kubernetes OpenShift platform and Diamanti’s Ultima storage and networking accelerators-based appliance to deliver on-prem cloud experience for today’s I/O intensive stateless and stateful workloads.

The Diamanti hyper-converged platform extends its rich feature set to RedHat CoreOS based Worker node deployments. Customers can now take advantage of Diamanti’s turn-key, production-grade Kubernetes platform for their RHEL and RHCOS based OpenShift environments. With RHCOS Worker nodes, customers now have a choice of deploying the Control-plane & Worker nodes in a converged-mode where separate control-plane nodes are not required if desired. This reduces the minimum footprint of an OpenShift cluster from 6 nodes to 3 nodes. The support for separate storage-mirroring ports, container-network ports and node management ports makes the Diamanti solution seamlessly scale when deploying user workloads and OpenShift controllers on the same set of nodes without impacting the performance of control or data plane. Conventional mode of cluster deployments with separate nodes for control-plane and worker-nodes continues to be supported with this release.

Storage:
Customers can continue to take advantage of the storage acceleration and the rich storage feature that they are used to with the Diamanti platform on RHCOS worker node deployments as well. The ability to deliver up to a million IOPs per worker node along with the flexibility to configure minimum guarantees and maximum IOPs limits per volume makes it the only product offering deterministic SLAs for storage I/Os. The synchronous mirroring of persistent data using the Ultima accelerators (dedicated 2x10G network bandwidth) ensures high availability of data across availability zones within the cluster and still achieves best in the class sub-200 microseconds latencies. Additionally, it supports the storage features, like backup, snapshot and DR, to name a few, that the infrastructure admins expect from a Kuberentes CSI storage solution to deploy stateful workloads in production.

Network:
With this release, Diamanti extends support of its L2 CNI for RHCOS deployments. Diamanti leverages its unique platform features to integrate seamless with the Multus CNI to provide both, OpenShift SDN and Diamanti’s L2 CNI capabilities, on the same cluster. Seamless integration of Ultima Accelerator’s offload capabilities with the Diamanti L2 CNI allows users to provision deterministic SLAs for their PODs/applications. Users can configure minimum and maximum bandwidth requirements for their applications through configurable performance-tiers and tie these to application network-endpoints, enabling them to maximize utilization of 4x10G bandwidth dedicated bandwidth available to container data traffic. Additionally, features like dynamic and static endpoints, VLAN based segmentation, service-discovery for secondary endpoints and zone-aware subnet auto-provisioning gives users all the networking features they need to take their workloads from development to production.
